I got that summertime madness7/2/2023 ![]() ![]() “1983” by Neon Trees was released on their second album, Habits. Check it out, especially if you’re a fan of indie rock. It is impossible to frown when listening to this earworm. Carefree and positive vibes practically radiate off the chorus. I firmly believe that any song from this album is perfectly composed for summer, but “Talk Too Much” has every positive attribute–a catchy chorus, a lively guitar interlude, and fun lyrics to scream along to. “Talk Too Much” by COIN, is featured on their second studio album, How Will You Know If You Never Try. Even if you don’t know the words, you’ll soon find yourself singing along! Hearing the chorus for the first time, you’d think you’ve known this song your whole life, like a lullaby etched into your brain since childhood. This song teeters between freshness and familiarity, filled with deep nostalgia and excitement. Although other songs from The Strokes, such as “Last Nite” and “Someday,” are catchy serotonin boosters, “The Adults Are Talking” is by far my favorite. “The Adults are Talking,” a song by The Strokes, is featured on their sixth album, The New Abnormal. One: “The Adults Are Talking” by The Strokes Sorry Lana, there’s no “Summertime Sadness” here. If you find one you haven’t heard of, give it a listen! These five were crafted by the higher powers to boost your serotonin. I took the liberty of sharing five songs that belong in everyone’s summer playlist. I ask the question: What songs are best for blasting out the windows of a car or resting on a floatable tanning bed? The song that plays through the car’s speakers makes the moment one to remember. Imagine a car packed with friends, a slight breeze sculpting your hair, and a positive vibe so strong that it spills out the open window. While my playlists fill with melancholy melodies in the colder months, summer calls for light, airy, and upbeat rhythms. Fear not the time for tanning, swimming, Mojitos, cold watermelon, and warm nights linger just around the corner. The summer season may seem gated behind the iron wall of piling schoolwork and rainy days, but it’s not out of reach.
